The Libraries Family
Addlestone may be the library most students and faculty are familiar with, but the College of Charleston Libraries bring together several repositories and digital resources:
- Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture, a matchless resource for documenting and sharing the stories of African Americans in the Lowcountry.
- Lowcountry Graduate Center Library, empowering multigenerational students and learners in North Charleston.
- Marine Resources Library, an integral element of marine science education and research in the Lowcountry.
- South Carolina Historical Society, the largest private repository of books, letters, journals, maps, drawings, and photographs documenting the history of the Palmetto State.
- Special Collections, featuring manuscript materials and rare books on a wide variety of subjects, with an emphasis on South Carolina history.
Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library support and advance the work of the College of Charleston Libraries. From on-campus collaborations to the Winthrop Roundtable, FOL’s programming provides opportunities for lifelong learning that strengthen our community and connects the Library to luminaries across the Lowcountry and beyond.
