College of Charleston Special Collections is pleased to announce the launch of a digital exhibit platform at speccoll.cofc.edu. Special Collections digital exhibits feature virtual iterations of physical exhibits installed in our space on the third floor of the College of Charleston’s Addlestone Library as well as spatially oriented interpretations showcasing the historic intersections of local figures with the built environment of peninsular Charleston.

Our inaugural digital exhibit is based on the display on view through April 2016 entitled “New Gardens Are Ever Appearing”: Loutrel Briggs and the Charleston Horticultural Tradition. Additional exhibits (formerly hosted by the Carolina Lowcountry and Atlantic World program) demonstrate the roles of free people of color and LGBTTQIA people in historic Charleston.

Addlestone Library is open to the College of Charleston community and affiliates via card access. Visitors may access Addlestone Library Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, and must present a government issued ID and sign in upon entry.
