Today, 884 million people lack access to safe water supplies, representing approximately one in eight people in the world. The United Nations estimates that by 2025, forty-eight nations, with combined population of 2.8 billion, will face freshwater “stress” or “scarcity”.

Learn the issues facing water quality, scarcity, and sustainability – and what you can do to help – by joining the Friends of the Library next Thursday at our first event of our series, “Going Green: Fad or Forever?”.

Moderator Tim Callahan, College of Charleston Department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences Associate Professor, has more than a decade of experience in hydrology and water resources research. Panel members include Whit McMillan, South Carolina Aquarium Director of Conservation Education; Joe Willson, Water Missions International; Andy Fairey, Charleston Water System; and Gene Eidson, Director of Restoration Ecology, Center for Applied Ecology at the Clemson Restoration Institute and lead scientist at The Intelligent River.
