Feb. 15 | New Exhibit Explores Slaughterhouse-Five - College of Charleston Libraries

As part of the 50th anniversary celebration marking the release of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, artist Lance Miccio will display 23 oil paintings depicting scenes from the novel.

The paintings, previously displayed at The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library in Indianapolis, will be available for viewing in Addlestone Library’s Rotunda. The exhibit is hosted by English Professor Susan E. Farrell.

A former art scholarship student at the College who studied under internationally recognized Abstract Expressionist Michael Tyzack, Lance Miccio transferred to CofC’s sister school, the Cardiff School of Design at the University of Wales, where he earned his BFA with Honors. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Miccio, having spent a third of his life in Charleston, either as a former submarine sailor, student and resident of Sullivans Island. Although originally from Brooklyn and now a resident of Venice Beach, California, Miccio considers himself a son of Charleston.

The exhibit runs February 15 thru March 15, available for viewing to all current CofC students, faculty, staff and Friends of the Library during regular business hours. Please observe all campus Covid precautions.
