All Lovers of Nature Love a Swamp: Wading and Wandering Throught the Lowcountry Marsh - College of Charleston Libraries
The Friends of the Addlestone Library invite you to join Dr. Jim Tuten, Associate Professor of History, Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA, for a look at the evolution of two beloved Lowcountry pastimes: hunting and fishing. Dr. Tuten, a Lowcountry native and expert on the defunct South Carolina rice industry, will examine the unique natural landscape of our region and how it shaped and was shaped by sportsmen over the past one hundred and fifty years.
The talk, entitled All Lovers of Nature Love a Swamp: Wading and Wandering Through the Lowcountry Marsh, accompanies an exhibit in the Library’s Special Collections of the Haslam Collection of Angling and Sporting books as part of the Southeastern Wildlife Exhibition (SEWE).
Dr. Tuten’s talk will be held in Room 227 of the Addlestone Library on Thursday, February 14 at 6:00pm. The Haslam SEWE exhibit can be viewed from Monday, February 11th through Friday, March 22nd, on the third floor of the Library.
Both the lecture and the exhibit are free and open to the public. Please contact Stephanie Alexander at alexandersd@cofc.edu with questions.
