Events, Communications Museum

Hello Everybody,

There are several exciting events coming up here at the Museum:

  1. Tonight (Wed. 8/22) @ 8pm The New Music Collective is presenting a concert featuring NYC-based experimental sound artist Richard Kamerman!  Kamerman employs all manner of devices, including, but not limited to, found objects/instruments, motors, and fans, tending to explore small (but, not necessarily quiet) sounds.   Check out a short video of him performing here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MU8IMQN1XCg.  In addition, New Music Collective cohort Sam Sfirri will be doing a short reading!
  2. Next, tomorrow (Thur. 8/23) from 8:30 – 11pm is Poetics open mic night!  Anyone, and everyone is welcome to come perform!
  3. Then, on Friday night (8/24) @ 7pm local contemporary arts performer/producer Laura Ball hosts a Brooklyn-based artist group that will be performing soundscapes, and modern dances!  Should make for a very unique show!  Check out Miss Ball’s website here –http://uneditedconcertseries.wordpress.com/
  4. Last, but not least, next Wednesday (8/29) @ 7pm there will be a lecture, Q & A, and book-signing with local first-time novelist Kim McLendon!  “If you’ve ever dreamed of writing that once-in-a-lifetime book, that family story, that awesome graphic novel; come listen to Kim’s tale and learn from her successes and challenges.”  Her book, the first in a Galactic Guerilla trilogy, is titled Izzy and the Crystal of Power, and as an added bonus—attendees will receivefree gRAWnola bars!

As always, all events held at the Museum are FREE, and open to the public!

Also, all you vinyl fiends out there should know that this Saturday (8/25) Monster Music and Moviesout in West Ashley will be hosting a Record Expo with numerous dealers from all over the east coast!  Here is a link with slightly more information – https://www.facebook.com/events/388850861170740/
