Photographer and Claflin University Visiting Scholar Maria Nunes has worked extensively throughout the Caribbean, especially in Trinidad, where she has documented various aspects of Carnival, the Merkin community of Trinidad (related to the Gullah/Geechee), and the performances of world-famous jazz musician Etienne Charles.

Join Nunes on Monday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m. in Addlestone Library Rm. 227 for a conversation exploring places of importance in Merikin Heritage in Trinidad, the shared African influence on Trinidad Carnival, as well as her work documenting Yorbua Culture in Trinidad through Ifa/Orisha traditions.
